BRIEF CV

In the last eight  years I have 400 significant features published in national and regional magazines and newspapers.

These include more than fifty travel features with  many for the Trinity Mirror group. These  have appeared in major regionals including the Sunday Sun, Sunday Mercury, Birmingham Post. Liverpool Daily Post, Middlesbrough Evening Gazette and Wales On Sunday. Also a number in the Essex Chronicle

Other samples of work can be seen in the online Oxford Dictionary of National Biography  (thirteen  entries and ongoing) and the online archive section of the Times Educational Supplement.

Among the nationals, I  produce material for are Family History Monthly, BBC History, BBC Countryfile, BBC Who Do You Think You Are?, Ancestors, The Guardian, Your Family Tree, Destination France, Italy, Rugby World, Wisden Cricketer, 442, Knitting, Organic Gardening, Nautical Magazine, Family Tree Magazine and Freelance Market News. I had a regular column on Top Ten tunes in My Weekly and have published a significant number of short fiction stories here under a female pseudonym as well as occasional features. Regular regionals inlude The Northumbrian, Cumbria Life, Yesterday, Dalesman, Down Your Way, Lincolnshire Life, Devon Life  and the new and very successful Scottish Borders publication DG Life.

I had a commissioned book published by Pen and Sword in 2008 on tracing northern ancestry and have another on ancestry and  Nelson's Navy ( with the Federation of Family History Societies) in 2005. Five commissioned books are being published between September 2011 and January 2012. Six of my books are currently available on Waterstones and W H Smiths sites ( Not the Understanding Mathematics one!)
